The idea for a Paleo restaurant came from my wife and I wanting to change our eating habits. I started preparing meals at home for us, and in the process found that the community didn’t really have a specific paleo style of food prep restaurant. Having eaten at a few, I felt there is room for improvement. So, this change of lifestyle and eating habits pushed me back into culinary school.
Going straight into delivery service is a little backwards from the norm. I felt with the way people are so busy and services like Grub hub and Favor are available. I can provide healthy quality hearty meals people and their families without an added cost. Since I prepared the meals, I can provide more care when delivering them to the customer.
The original concept of the Paleo diet was introduced in an article published in the New England Journal of Medicine in 1985 called Paleolithic nutrition by radiologist Stanley Boyd Eaton and professor of Anthropology and Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology at Emory University, Melvin Konner.
Paleolithic nutrition became popular when Loren Cordain introduced it commercially in his book “The Paleo Diet” in 2002. Loren Cordain is an American scientist who specialized in nutrition and exercise. He has published several books, but “The Paleo Diet” was one of his most populoar works. From there, the Paleo diet slowly became popular among people seeking better health. In 2013, the term Paleo diet ranked in Google search as one of the most searched for modern diets.
Several studies have reported the paleo diet can have benefits for heart health. This is particularly useful for people with diabetes as heart disease is one of the most common diabetes-related complications. In 2015 scientists discovered that the paleo diet significantly lowered total cholesterol, LDL, triglycerides and increased HDL compared to a standard diet.
